Nick Carroll's Big Swell Forecast: Nov. 24-30, 2009
Sorry folks, but just as the North Pacific seems to be lighting up into its winter season, we appear to be slipping into the doldrums. A series of weakening Roaring Forties storms will sweep well to the south of the continent in the coming week, sending not much more than dribs and drabs of groundswell to our shores. An ugly cutoff low is due to form just south of WA early in the period as well, making a mess of anything useful in that part of Australia. Tassie is seeing a pulse of swell today on the 24th and will see another 24 hours later, accompanied by relatively light NW winds, and southern NZ will receive a serious caning from the 26th on from the storm series as it proceeds into the south Pacific. But rideable surf in the 15-foot-plus range? Not this week. Check back with us on December 1!
