What's been goin' on with the weather systems this year? We've had pumping waves everywhere, especially up and down the east coast and the dirty southwest of WA has had its moments but nothing like we've seen the last few years for massive storm systems.

 

We are only just seeing images from the same swell that hit the arse end of oz a couple of months ago with some messed up shots of mark mathews in what he calls the biggest barrel of his life! Here's a guy who has had more barrels than you have had hot dinners so you know it's got some worth...also coming out of the wood work and scoring the latest cover of ASL is Morgs' truck-sized barrel from THE LEFT which will keep him frothing out for a long time.

 

Fortunately the awards have been extended allowing freak swells and sessions to be contenders. There have also been rumours of the odd couple RCJ and Tommy Carroll scouting out a new big wave in NZ with the help of Doug Young and 'Kong' Elkerton while filming for their show on discovery channel but we won't know until they send in some entries. 

 

There is a couple of entries from a day out at Cow Bombie we had to ourselves with Jamie Scott shooting. it was super onshore and a dying swell but there was still a few lumps to be had. These'll be up on the site in a couple of days.

 

By the time you read this there will hopefully a few more stories to tell as there's a bomb swell hitting the coast and a bird to catch...Which coast? We will see if it happens first but it could be messed up.

Talk about a long wait for some decent slabs, it’s been almost six months since anything award-worthy has hit our shores!

 

Queensland looked like it was going to be the first entries with some crew claiming 12-foot-plus along the points and huge caverns! Yeah on the Goldie, that’s right! Tassie has had a few decent pulses but nothing all-time, and Vicco, well the guys keep it real quiet down there but we’re sure there’s been a few sessions go down. The Northern Territory came up with king browns and big barramundi but no waves...again!

 

The usual suspects you see here on this site, have been tearing their hair out trying to chase down phantom swells and forking out some serious bullion for not much gold, but it looks like the goods have been produced, at last!

 

This swell was not much different to a lot that have been going down and was really 50/50. There have been about four swells this year which looked the same as this one on the charts but for some reason this one was worked! People from all over the world had burning lobes from there mobiles frothing on this swell, the froth so intense you could almost smell it, young virgins would get pregnant just walking down the street from the man-froth!!

 

Fortunately, for oz's virgins most crew pulled the pin at the last minute and went on definite trips that weren’t so sketchy, so that left a solid bunch of contenders for this swell at a place known as "The Right" in South Oz. This is just the start of things to come for what’s going to be an epic year of new discoveries, mindless beatings and the lads pushing the envelope.
